La Bedda – A Cocktail for AperitivoAll Recipes
- 10g Fresh Basil
- 75ml Good Quality Lemon Juice
- 75ml Sugar Syrup (half water and half sugar)
- 150ml Gin (we use Ondina Gin)
- Tonic Water
- 15g Finely Grounded Pistachios
- Ice Cubes
We have created this cocktail “La Bedda” to represent the beauty of some of our favourite ingredients and flavours from Sicily.
Bedda, meaning beautiful in Sicilian, is a way for us to describe how we feel about the ingredients grown on our nurturing Sicilian land. Bringing together the flavours of basil, lemon and pistachio this is a fresh, zingy and summery cocktail. Perfect to go alongside our Stuzzichini dishes as “La Bedda” enhances the freshness and tart notes of the Frittedda and cuts through the cheese and deep flavours of the Alla Norma Reinventato . This is how we love to Aperitivo in the Strazzanti family.
Prepare the serving glasses by dipping the rim of the glass into the cooled stock syrup, making sure to shake off any excess syrup and dip directly into the finely grounded pistachios on a plate.
Using a cocktail maker, tear inside the fresh basil leaves, add the lemon juice and sugar syrup and crush and mix together well to release the natural oils of the basil leaves. Add ice cubes to the cocktail mixer and then add in the gin* and shake well.
Place ice cubes into the pistachio lined glasses and pour the basil, lemon and gin mix equally into the 3 glasses and top with tonic water and garnish with a leaf of fresh basil!
We use Ondina gin as it is infused with Sicilian lemons!
