Strazzanti in Sicily – April 2020

If you, your friends and your family share a passion for the culinary arts, a penchant for gastronomic adventures and a predilection for luxury living, we have an irresistible proposal for you!

We’ve teamed up with The Thinking Traveller for an exclusive, week-long culinary experience at Angheli, one of The Thinking Travellers Think Exquisite villas in southwestern Sicily.

Dates: Saturday 18th – Saturday 25th April 2020

Your group: the experience is designed for a closed group of  family and/or friends (maximum 12 guests in total).

The programme in detail*

Day 1 – Saturday

  • from 4:00pm – check-in and welcome aperitivo created by Emilia

Day 2 – Sunday

  • 9:00am – welcome breakfast
  • 11:00am – an introduction to Sicilian food and its key ingredients followed by a tour of the house by the owner
  • 1:00pm – light lunch cooked by Angheli’s in-villa chef
  • 3:00pm –  hands-on cooking class focusing on  home-made busiata pasta, pesto alla Trapanese (a tomato and almond-based pesto), and a ragù-making master class (for tomorrow’s arancini)
  • 8:00pm – dinner at Angheli

Day 3 – Monday

  • 8:00am – breakfast
  • 10:00am – cooking class focusing on arancini, a Sicilian street food classic
  • 2:30pm – lunch of Sicilian street food prepared earlier
  • 4:30pm – an optional private tour of Selinunte archaeological site followed by dinner in a local restaurant*
    *Dinner at a local restaurant still included if the optional tour is not taken

Day 4 – Tuesday

  • 8:00am – breakfast
  • 10:00am – hands-on cooking class and demo to prepare a dinner of pasta con ricotta, basilico, gamberi e pesto di pistacchi (pasta with ricotta cheese, basil, prawns and pistachio pesto)
  • 1:30pm –  lunch at a local restaurant by the beach
  • 3:30pm – Visit Sciacca. Watch the fishermen arrive at the port and spend the afternoon exploring the town to see the ceramics.
  • 8:00pm – dinner at Angheli with the pasta prepared in the morning’s class

Day 5 – Wednesday

  • 8:00am – breakfast
  • 10:30am – guided Marsala wine tour
  • 12:30pm –  lunch in a winery in Marsala
  • 3:00pm – hands-on cooking class and demo focusing on Marsala-based desserts, pastries and a cocktail
  • 8:00pm – a light dinner at Angheli prepared by Emilia, including the desserts made earlier

Day 6 – Thursday

  • a free day to enjoy Angheli or try out one of our Think Experiences
  • 1:oopm – light lunch prepared by Angheli’s in-villa cook
  • 8:00pm – barbecue dinner at Angheli

Day 7 – Friday

  • 8:00am – breakfast
  • 10:00am – Visit a caseficio in Sambuca di Sicilia to see how the local cheese is produced.
  • 2:00pm – light lunch at Angheli
  • 4:00pm – cooking class, including involtini di melanzane (aubergine roulades)
  • 8:00pm – dinner at Angheli – a special final feast prepared by Emilia

Day 8 – Saturday

  • Departure day
  • breakfast and check-out by 10:00am

€27,000 (for a closed group of up to 12 guests)

Price includes:

  • 7 nights’ accommodation at Angheli for up to 12 guests
  • 5 cookery classes at Angheli led by Emilia Strazzanti
  • all meals: 7 dinners (6 at the villa, 1 in a local restaurant), 6 lunches (4 at the villa, 2 out) and 7 breakfasts (at the villa)
  • private transfers to and from Trapani or Palermo airports and for the excursions
